Discover the fascinating world of Hong Kong’s dynamic retail landscape, where modern consumer culture meets pressing urban and environmental challenges.
As part of Business of Design Week(BODW) in the city - Asia’s leading event on design and innovation - this curated tour enables you to experience thriving retail areas that have adapted to the community, as well as struggling spaces that reflect the shifting tides of the city’s economy and consumer behavior. From the impact of changing demographics and e-commerce to challenges of real estate speculation and urban planning, you will gain a deeper understanding of how these factors contributed to their current state.
Along the way, we’ll be exploring innovative design solutions, sustainable technologies, and policy solutions shaping the next generation of retail spaces. This tour invites you to reimagine how Hong Kong’s malls can evolve into smarter, more sustainable, and people-oriented hubs.
